GIANT STRAWBERRY POP TART
Okay so when I was younger, I used to love Pop Tarts! I loved all of them, but my two favorites were the strawberry filled ones and the frosted brown sugar cinnamon ones! I have a recipe one the way coming for the brown sugar pop tarts, but this strawberry one is a must! It’s also if the perfect treat to have when all the kids are over, or for a large brunch gathering!
Ingredients:
~ 4 Pillsbury pie crusts ( 2 boxes; before rolling them out let them get to room temperature)
~ 1.5-2 cups strawberry preserves (or whatever filling you like)
~ 1-2 tbsp softened butter or egg wash
~ Sprinkles for topping
For the icing:
~ 1 cup powdered sugar
~ 2 tbsp cold milk or heavy cream
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 375
- Place 2 of your pie crusts on top of each other and using a rolling pin roll them out
- Cut a rectangle out of your dough (repeat with the second two sheets of dough)
- Place your first rectangle on parchment paper and spread your filling evenly on top (make sure to leave 1/2”-1” border around the edges
- Place your second rectangle on top of the first one with your filling on it
- Seal up around the edges with your fingers and then use a fork to press down to ensure no filling comes out during baking
- Poke some holes in the top with a tooth pick or fork
- Brush your softened butter over the whole pop tart and bake for 20-25 min or until nice and golden! Mine was in there for 25!
- Take it out and let cool
- While your pop tart is cooling make your icing
- In a bowl add your powdered sugar and milk and whisk it up
- Pour over top your pop tart and top with sprinkles or whatever else you’d like
- Cut it up and enjoy
- You can store it in an air tight container on the counter or in your fridge
